AOC CÔTES DU RHÔNE

TERROIRS

The vines for La Fiole Côtes-du-Rhône white are located in the Gard department. This wine is sourced from vines planted in two distinct soil types of varieties suited to their specific terroirs. Grenache Blanc, which makes up about 60% of the blend, thrives on the sandy-clay soils at the foot of south-facing slopes. This produces a wine that is concentrated and well-structured, with fresh aromas and bright acidity, providing a solid base for blending with Clairette. Clairette (around 40%) is grown primarily on silty clay at the foot of the slopes. The cooler soils and slightly more humid microclimate result in fresher, more floral and citrus aromas, along with lively notes on the palate. This adds freshness and lift to the blend, creating wines with nice fat, fullness and suppleness on the palate and a lovely, long finish.

The grape varieties are machine-harvested together at the end of the night to ensure the grapes remain at very low temperatures.

The grapes are immediately pressed for about 3 hours, producing a fresh juice that is settled for 24 hours at 10°C to clarify before fermentation. Fermentation occurs at low temperatures (around 16°C) in stainless steel vats to preserve the varietal aromas. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to stainless steel vats for a brief ageing period.

In stainless steel vats on the fine lees for 4 months.

James Suckling 90

A fruity, balanced and succulent white with aromas of apricots and acacia. It’s medium-bodied with a succulent core of white peaches and blanched almond at the center. Vivid finish. Drink or hold.
